STRAWBERRY TONGUE YANG TAK SEDAP

Assalamualaikum.....

Would like to share an info with all readers out there pertaining strawberry tongue and scarlet fever.  This is due to a symptom that commonly occur at our kids and yet...we  didn't realize what type of fever and why the tongue is looks like that.  And so...this is the answer for that.

What Causes a Red or Strawberry Tongue?

There are multiple factors that can cause a normally pink tongue to turn red. In some instances, the tongue may even take on the appearance of a strawberry with enlarged, red taste buds dotting the surface. Possible causes include:
  • Vitamin deficiencies. Deficiencies of folic acid and vitamin B-12 may cause your tongue to take on a reddish appearance.
  • Geographic tongue. This condition, also known as benign migratory glossitis, is named for the map-like pattern of reddish spots that develop on the surface of the tongue. At times, these patches have a white border around them, and their location on the tongue may shift over time. Though usually harmless, you should check with your dentist to investigate red patches that last longer than two weeks. Once your dentist has determined that the redness is a result of geographic tongue, no further treatment is necessary. If the condition makes your tongue sore or uncomfortable, you may be prescribed topical medications to alleviate discomfort.
Dis is de look of a person that got strawberry tongue...anak2 saya dah 2 orang biasa mengalami strawberryy tongue.  Bagi kes mereka, biasanya jumpa doktor dan sahkan kena scarlet fever and of course normally kalau dah scarlet fever akan kena strawberry tongue.  So far mereka tak pernahla pulak cakap dekat lidah tu rasa sakit ke, panas ke, tak selesa ke atau mesti hanya kena makan aiskrim ke....kot sebab mereka budak kecik kan, so tak banyak kerenah dan Allah kurangkan rasa sakit mereka.  Wajib ambil antibiotik kalau kena scarlet fever and strawberry tongue.

Scarlet fever facts

  • Scarlet fever is caused by bacteria known as group A streptococci (GAS).
  • The infection usually starts with a sore throat and fever, followed within 48 hours by a rash. Less commonly, the infection starts as a wound infection.
  • The rash starts on the trunk and spreads to the arms and legs. It looks like a sunburn, but it feels rough like sandpaper. The rash may be redder in skin folds. As the rash starts to go away, the skin may peel.
  • Tongue changes are common during the disease ("strawberry tongue"). The tongue may first appear white with red bumps and then turn beefy red.
  • Scarlet fever is diagnosed by examination of the rash and swabbing the throat to look for GAS. Blood tests may be done in some cases.
  • The disease is treated with rest, fluids, and antibiotics.
  • Scarlet fever responds well to treatment and the disease resolves completely in most people. Complications are rare but may occur when the bacteria spread to the bloodstream, bone, or tissues.
  • People with scarlet fever should cover their coughs, wash hands frequently, and not share utensils. They should not go to school or work until they have been on antibiotics for at least 24 hours.

p/s:  Segera jumpa doc yer kalau anak2 ada symptom macam ini coz mereka akan merasa sgt tidak comfortable and we need to look at the sign yang occur pada physical tubuh mereka.  Kalau tak ada then it's OK.  Sayangi anak2 kita.
